What has been a multiyear journey of collective visioning, community building, artistic collaboration is just a few weeks from its full realization, and if we were any more excited it’d be awkward... Or maybe we’ve already crossed that line?
In the run-up I have a few major updates and invitations to extend your way:
Artist Lineup
It is with great pride & humility that I announce the full artist lineup for the Ball:
Over 18 cultural organizations and over 150 artists, this MassQ Ball lineup will be the largest and most diverse ever. MassQ Ball Prelude Panel Discussion
This Sunday, September 14th, join us for “Centering Culture: A MassQ Ball 2025: Color Event Prelude” at St. Augustine’s African Orthodox Church.
Sunday, Sept 14 | 4–6PM
137 Allston Street, Cambridge, MA
Moderated by MassQ Ball co-producer and Castle of our Skins’ Artistic Director, Ashleigh Gordon (pictured far right), the panel will feature (from left to right):
Mar Parrilla (Danza Orgánica) — Taíno AfroBorikua choreographer and community organizer, integrating liberation and decolonization into dance.
Cornell Coley — award-winning percussionist, dancer, and educator whose work centers Afro-Latin, African, and diasporic traditions.
Ifé Franklin — interdisciplinary artist and creator of the Indigo Project, honoring the history and resilience of enslaved Africans/African Americans.
Together, these artists will reflect on how culture and place inform the artistic practices they will be bringing to the Ball.
